Walking the fine line between security and humor

Ever find yourself trying to enforce a no-guest policy while your colleagues are cracking jokes about the ‘invisible thieves’? Just last week, I had to explain to a front desk staff member that ‘sneaking in’ isn’t part of the customer service experience. It’s a delicate balance, for sure, and I sometimes wonder if our humor might just be the thing that saves us from total chaos.

I totally get that! A good approach I’ve found is to have fun with the ‘no-guest policy’ by turning it into a lighthearted moment, like joking that ‘the invisible thieves only come out after dark’. It keeps the mood light while still making your point.

Balancing security with humor keeps the mood light, but remember, some guests might still take advantage! @mick_r56, how do you handle those sneaky ones?

I’ve had some luck with humor too! Reminding everyone that ‘invisible thieves’ won’t leave a tip can lighten the mood :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:. Do you think a few jokes would help during staff training?
