It isn’t arbitrary; it’s the product of housekeeping turns and shift staging. With 420 keys, 11 a.m. checkout, and a 32-minute clean, moving to 2 p.m. reliably means a 15% labor bump or more “room not ready” arrivals — has anyone sustained 2 p.m. check-in without overtime or readiness hits?
We sustained 2 p.m. by zoning two quick-turn floors and 10–6/12–8 staggers; prioritized ETAs; “room not ready” <3% — what’s your stayover mix?
At 420 keys with 11 a.m. checkout and 32-minute cleans, the only way we held 2 p.m. without OT was a 10:30 “trash-and-linen sweep” by engineering on departures, shaving about 6 minutes per room and giving us a 1:30 ready stack. What’s your stayover mix, @OP? Small caveat: corridor sign-off inspections need QA buy-in or it backfires on defects.
